VOTE NO ON PROP 8 TOUR BUS

Our friend's Jeff andTodd do not want to wake up on Nov 5th and have to tell their 10 year old son Justin, that they can no longer be married.....so they did something about it.

(PROPOSITION 8 is a ban on Gay marriage, and it is one we oppose, not only as an infringement on gay rights, but also as a violation of civil rights.)

Their plan...wrap a tour bus with a NO on Prop 8 banner and travel around California with two other families and spread the message that proposition 8 is wrong. We helped the cause by donating money to help them raise the 20K they needed to rent and wrap the bus with the banner. We also got the word out to all our friend to join us in seeing them off on their journey. About 150 people came by to support their efforts. Jeff's plea to the crowd was so moving,  I was brought to tears. As jeff was speaking it hit me so hard just how important it is to defeat prop 8. All we are asking for is EQUAL RIGHTS. Jeff and Todd are traveling with two other straight familes to show people that we are all the same and that their family is just like any other family. Mark Ruffalo, a long time friend of Jeff, told that crowd that a family is two parents who love their children and would do anything for them and that Todd and Jeff are no different, than he and his wife. Mark said never once did his children come home from a play date with Justin and ask why Justin has two dads, because his kid don't care, it is not an issue for them. Discrimination is taught. We can all learn through the unbiased eyes of children. To see Todd and Jeff with their son and friends was so powerful. All they want is to be a family. To think that there are people who want to take those rights away from them is hard to believe. That outpouring of love yesterday could be felt by all who attended. Everyone was so emotional ...lots of hugs. I even got to hug one of my favorite actors (Mark Ruffalo) and thank him for his love an support. What a special man he is. It was a pleasure to meet him. As he hugged me he told me that he had seen me crying in the crowd and that it touched him deeply. It was at the moment that I truly realized how much I really want the same rights as everyone else. Please if you are reading this VOTE NO on PROP 8. It is a vote for love not hate.

One of the stops on the bus tour is  Qualcomm staduim, where an Evengelical group has rented out the staduim to hold a 10 hour prayer vigil to pray for Prop 8 to pass. Hopefully, jeff and his family will have an impact on some folks.
